Glenn Reynolds reports on the tragic killing of Canadian freelance journalist Zahra Kazemi in Iran and ends the post with this all too typical comment:
More pressure from human-rights groups would be nice.
The Committee to Protect Journalists has more on her murder here, Reporters Without Borders has several news releases here, the International Federation of Journalists has protested her death here and Amnesty International is calling for an investigation here. All of them had taken action before Glenn posted his comment. The only major organization I know of that has not made public mention of this case yet is Human Rights Watch.
But before you start to accuse them of being objectively pro-mullah, Glenn, perhaps you might want to consider this: neither you nor I know what they may be doing behind the scenes. So if you gain satisfaction by cursing the darkness and a perceived (on your part) lack of pressure, go ahead. I spent all of five minutes gathering this information. Perhaps in the future you might want to consider doing the same before jumping to conclusions.
