Speaking of Haiti, here's some additional proof that it's getting worse there.
So let me see if I understand this correctly. Gerard Latortue recently gave back pay to Haitian ex-soldiers (and I use that term loosely), but Haitian doctors working at the country's largest public hospital have not been paid for three months?!?
Doctors at Haiti's largest public hospital extended a weeklong strike Tuesday to protest overdue paychecks, leaving dozens of victims of violence and other emergencies struggling to find care.
All 75 resident doctors walked off the job last week because the government has not paid their salaries for three months, said Albert Camille Archange, director of the General Hospital in the capital, Port-au-Prince.
The doctors, who make about $145 a month, extended the strike Tuesday after the government ignored their demands. The hospital's 65 interns were also on strike out of solidarity with the residents.
It's time for Latortue to go. This is indefensible.

I don't know if it's time for him to go...as much as time for elections...
But I must say it's interesting to hear you call for his exit. And not without reason, considering the backpay was really paying black mail to these soldiers not to cause trouble for him. --s

Scott,
I don't know if they can really count on having elections there. As my prior post indicates, Latortue hasn't even created an electoral commission. His first mistake was referring to the ex-FRAPHists as "freedom fighters."

But if they can have elections in Iraq, with the help of the US army, they can certainly have elections in Haiti, right? Why are we letting Haiti disintegrate like this?
