There appears to be some push back against the praise for Ryszard Kapuściński by Jack Shafer on Slate who links to this article by John Ryle. The criticism centers on The Emperor, Kapuściński's book on Haile Selassie and The Shadow of the Sun, a collection of his writing on Africa. No mention was made of any of his other books.
My recommendation: read those books - if you choose to read them - with a grain of salt. No mention was made of his two books that are my favorite: Shah of Shahs and Another Day of Life.
