One of the most consistently tiresome arguments from the right is the idea that enhanced interrogation techniques torture is effective in preventing terrorism attacks. An effective counterclaim against this argument is made by this book: How to Break a Terrorist: The U.S. Interrogators Who Used Brains, Not Brutality, to Take Down the Deadliest Man in Iraq

As one of the interrogators so eloquently put it, using torture is like "pulling a thread out of the flag." Those who commit such acts are criminals; their enablers may also be criminals and those who believe it is effective, as the videos show, are either ignorant, deluded and/or hypocrites.
